R E S 0 L U T I 0 N WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Virginia Beach has had continuing concern about access to the proposed False Cape State Park; and, WHEREAS, there has been a recent announcement by the Secretary of the Department of the Interior that access to this area would not be granted through the National Wildlife Preserve; and, WHEREAS, any major construction of road in this area may have an adverse effect on the quality of life for the residents of this particular area and the same would be in conflict with the adopted Comprehensive Plan and Capital Improvement Plan of the City of Virginia Beach; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA: THAT the parties involved, the Department of the Interior and the Council on Outdoor Recreation consider exchanging False Cape State Park for all or part of Fort Story or, as an alternative, that the Federal Government allow the Commonwealth of Virginia to use Fort Story as a day use beach so that False Cape State Park may be kept in its natural state. FURTHERMORE, the City Clerk is directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to all interested parties at the national and state levels as well as to the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and to the Governor of Virginia and to each member of the General Assembly of Virginia representing the City of Virginia Beach. Merrick 2/11/30 1 2 - Requested by: Department of Public Works AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 17-7(1) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH RELATING TO REFUSE COLLECTION PRACTICES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VIRGItlIA BEACH, VIRGIrlIA: That Section 17-7(I) of the Code of the City of Virginia Beach is amended and reordained to read as follows: (I) Trees and Shrubbery Trimmings. All limbs, branches, shubbery and hedge tririrnings shall be cut into lengths not to exceed four feet and shall be stacked neatly by the curbline for collection. Stacks should not exceed 4x4x4 feet. This material shall only be picked up on a call-in basis to the Refuse Collection Bureau. Any violation of the above-mentioned restriction shall be the responsibility of the owner or occupant for proper disposal thereof. on seasonal occasions, when various types of debri waterways, highways or drainage systems is either flooded or washed upon private property (commercial or residential) and wlien carted to the curb line of the City for refuse collection, the Director of Public Works may authorize the forking of such refuse accumulations not in containers or stacked rmall required.
