ITEM #453S Slattum appeared on behalf of the Tidewater Volleyball Association, which will be reptesenting a region that includes the States of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Dolware and Washington, D. C., at the National Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. On motion by Councilman Dusch, seconded by Councilman Waterfield, and by recorded vote as follows: Ayes: Councilmen Robert H. The Engineering Division requires improvements along the 107.09-foot frontage on Smokey Lane for which site plan approval is required. That the said City of Ilorfolk shall be under no obligation to furnish more water than its distribution system as now laid, with the pressure carricd, will deliver into said mains, a-nd if the said supplying of water shall not be in accordance with the stzindard service, the said City of Ilorfolk shall not be held responsible in FLny way. 5 That in supplying water to consuners Rlong the said proposed mains, the CiZy of Norfol-k will supply the sane only from its surplus supply$ aild that in no event shall the-e b-- any obligation on the part of said City to oupply water to any consurers alon.a the proposed mains at any time when, in the judgement of the Counci-1 of the said City of Norfolk, the said City shall not have sufficient sunply fgr use within its corporate limits, or whenever the supplying of said water shall interfere with the discharge of the duty of said City to supply water to its own inhabitpnts. 6. The regular meeting of the Council of the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was held in the Council Chambers of the Adminis- tration Building of the City of Virginia Beach on @4.ay 1, 1972 On motion by Mr - Waterf ield and seconded by Mr. Holland the following resolution was unanimously adopted. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Public Highway Safety Act provides Federal monies to assist political subdivisions of the various states in improving and expanding emergency services within the spectrum of public highway safety; and WHEREAS, the subject act provides assistance for the provision of ernergency medical services and related delivery; and WHEREAS, the services of the Volunteer Rescue Squads have provided emergency medical care of excellent quality to the citizens of the City of Virginia Beach; and WHEREAS, there exists an urgent need within the City of Virginia Beach to provide its citizens with an expedient means of delivery of emergency coronary care services; and WHEREAS, such program entitled "Cardio Alert System" will provide emergency life support services deemed rnost necessary to assist those in need, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA: THAT, the City Council of the Cit), of Virginia Beach endorses the application of the "Emergency Coronary Care Program" to the Emergency Medical Services Departm(,nt of the Stitte Public High- way Safety Division for the implernent @tion of the "Cardio Alert System" in the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause such information or materials as may be necessary to be provided to the appropriate agencies to permit the formulation, ap@roval, and funding of the subject "Cardio Alert System" program.
