AND 33-21@ OF THE VIRGIZ4IA BEACH CITY CODE
TO PROVIDE FOR INCREASE IN UTILITY TAXES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COU@ICIL OF THE CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH,
VIRGINIA:
That Section 33-12, of the Virginia Beach City Code, is
hereby amended to provide that the -itility tax imposed thereby
shall be 20% of the charge in lieu of 15% as nov.- provided.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that Section 33-21 of the Virginia
Beach City Code, is hereby amended to provide that the rate of
trx-shall be 12% in lieu of 9% as is currently provided, and
further, that the tax imposed by this provision shall not be
imposed on any monthly charge that exceeds four hundred dollars.
BE IT FURTHER O?DAINED, that Section 33-24, of the Virginia
Beach City Code, is hereby amended to provide that the tax from
the sale of cigarettes shall be ti,7o and one-half cents for each
ten cigaretles, or fractional number of ten cigarettes.
BE IT FURTIIER OPDAINED, that the change in rate tax for
utilities provided herein, shall take effect June 1, 1969, and
that the increased taxes on cigarettes sliall apply to those sold
at retail on and aftqr July 1, 1969.
