WHEREAS, the City of Virginia Beach enjoys the benefits
of the services performed by tlic@ Virgini,3 BeZch ResCue Squ.4d,
Incorporated, wfiich is comnosed entirely of volu[iteers; Pnd
WIIEIZEAS, at the anriual convt2iition of til,! Virgii)il

117 squads, held in Ricilmond, Virginia, in September of 1968P
the Virginia Beach Rescue Squqd colupeted in eight events, and
demonstrated its outstandirig proficickicy alid ability by taking
second place in one category of competition and first place in
six others, including winning the Forest David Porter, Jr.,
Memorial Trophy for outstanding achievement in first aid)
rescue and rescue equipitielit, the Paymond H. Therien Memorini
Plaque for outstanding @ichievenient in first aid competition,
the coveted Vir@inin Higliway UserE; Association Grand Award in
competition with 911 di,,,isions for first qid; and, finally, in
winning the Second Disti.-ict Axiard for first qid for the third
time in suqcession, thus retiring. the trophy to their permanent
possession; and
WHERF,AS, the citiz(?ns of Virginia Beach are justifiably
proud of the achieveinents as set forth herein.

OF VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA:
That the Council of@ the City of Virginia Beach extends
its hearty congratulations to the entire membership and to
Mr. C. Talbott Dickson who was Squad Captain at the time of
the Convention, all of whom contributed to the success of the
Squad, for their outstanding performance.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk is directed to
spread the text of this resolution on the minutes of this
meeting.
