The members of ti~e civic league are strongly Opposed to the construction of the navy housing project in this or any other taxable area in Virginia Beach. BE IT ORDAIRED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACil, VIRCINIA: That Section 33-7.6 of the Codeof the City of Virginia Beach is mncnded by deletinu subsection (a) and substituting therefor the following: (a) The Real Estate Assessor shall detemine and assess the roll-ba~k tax of the owner of any real estate liable for such 'taxes, which shall be paid to the Treasurer within thirty (30) days of assessment. Failure of such owner to pay to the Treasurer within 30 days shall cause owner to be liable for an additional penalty of 10% of the amount of the roll- back tax, which penaltY shall be collected as part of the tax. In addition to such penalty there is hereby imposed interest at the rate of ½ of 1% per month on the amount of roll-back tax for each month or fraction thereof during which failure to pay continues.
