–Virginia Beach 2007consisted of a

planning group with approximately 70 members that met periodically
over a period of four years. By April 2007, they had involved more
than 150 local organizations in VB 2007 events.
City Committee –
For nearly two years, multiple city department

representatives met to assist in the planning and implementationof the
events to ensure availability and efficient use of resources.

–As a result of the ongoing public relations

efforts for Virginia Beach 2007, the full weekend of events secured an
advertising equivalency value of more than $1.2 million, and reached a
total audience of more than 40 million in readers and viewers.

–To date, the Virginia Beach 2007 events –

including the First Landing Reenactments, Magna Cartaexhibit,
Boardwalk History Festival and the Raising of the Cross –were
featured in 70 local, regional and national print publications and 104
local, regional and national broadcast outlets.
