Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr. called to order the Virginia Beach City Council's SPECIAL FORMAL
SESSION in the Conference Room, Economic Development, on Monday, December 7, 2015, at 1:00
P.M, to INTERVIEW for THE POSITION OF CITY MANAGER.
Council Members Present:
M Benjamin Davenport, Robert M. Dyer, Barbara M. Henley, Vice
Mayor Louis R. Jones, Shannon DS Kane, John D. Moss, Amelia N.
Ross-Hammond, Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr., John E. Uhrin,
Rosemary Wilson and James L. Wood
**Shannon DS Kane is out of town attending her grandmother's funeral and participated
via telephone conference call

Mayor Sessoms read the "Call for a Special Session".
Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr., entertained a motion to permit City Council to conduct its CLOSED
SESSION,pursuant to Section 2.2-3711(A)(1), Code of Virginia, as amended,for the following purpose:
PERSONNEL MATTERS: Discussion, consideration of or interviews
of prospective candidates for employment, assignment, appointment,
promotion, performance, demotion, salaries, disciplining or resignation
of specific public officers, appointees or employees pursuant to Section
2.2-3711(A)(1)
Candidates for the Position of City Manager
December 7, 2015
In accordance with Virginia Code § 2.2-
3712(B), City Council will hold closed session
meetings at an undisclosed location within the
next 15 days for the purpose of interviewing
candidates for the position of City Manager. No
votes will be taken , other than the votes to
convene and certify the closed sessions. Any
vote to appoint a candidate to the position of
City Manager will occur at a subsequent public
meeting, for which public notice will be provided
in accordance with the provisions of the Virginia
Freedom of Information Act.

Upon motion by Vice Mayor Louis R. Jones, seconded by Councilman Dyer, City Council voted to
proceed into CLOSED SESSION for a specific Personnel matter at 1:15 P.M.
