October 10, 2017 -35- ADD ON Mayor Sessoms advised he attended the Manufacturer's Roundtable today and has, in the past, been very distressed with the substantial number of jobs that need proper training to get filled and are not getting filled. His first question to each manufacturer in attendance today was "Tell me about job openings"and he was pleased to hear everyone spoke up and said we are doing much better in filling positions than in the past. This is a huge improvement and Mayor Sessoms recognized Warren Harris for working diligently with the business community and the Schools. The Schools are going to start talking about these types of technical jobs as early as elementary school and now, OPPINC. has funded a grant to allow high school students to apply for apprentice programs.
