April 24, 1983
In accordance with Section 2-21 of the Code of the City of Virginia
Beach, Virginia, a Special Meeting of the Council of the City of
Virginia Beach was called to order by Mayor Louis R. Jones, in the
Pavilion Theatre, on Sunday, April 24, 1983, at 7:30 p.m., for the
purpose of honoring our City's founders and celebrating the Twentieth
Anniversary of the merger of the County of Princess Anne and the City
of Virginia Beach.

In Retrospect," was shown which detailed the history of Virginia Beach
and the events that lead to the merger of Princess Anne County and the
City of Virginia Beach.

made which gave a glimpse of the past 20 years and what is expected in
the future.

The Mayor recognized Joe Lowenthal as Narrator of Lhe video-
taped film and the slide presentalion.

Mayor Jones, assisted by Sidney Kel.lam, had the honor of cutting the cake
in commemoration of the City's TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
