The City Clerk informed Council that the residents from Groveland
Park would not be appearing before Council today regarding the
waiver of sidewalks in their area, as the PIatter has been settled.
The City Manager stated that in Groveland Park sidewalks were
required and the developer requested a waiver until all houses
in the area had been constructed. That was approximately 5 years
ago.
The Director of Public @iorks is now requiring the developer to put
in sidewalks, and the residents in the area are opposed to this and
have signed petitions to that effect.
A compromise has been agreed up whereby those residents desiring
sidewalks may have them installed at the expense of the developer,
and those not wishing them will have the developer's money held in
escrow by the City until such time as it is necessary to install
sidewalks.
