PRESENTATIONS
ITEM # 55392
Council Member Wood advised as Councilman Schmidt has served as Director of the Department of
Environmental Quality (appointed by Governor Allan), and Member of the Green Ribbon Task Force and
due to his vast environmental knowledge, he is being recognized as an "Equa- Warrior". Councilman
Wood adorned Councilman Schmidt with the appropriate "hard hat" helmet.
Council Member Villanueva advised Councilman Maddox has always left the City Council with smiles
and memorable catch phrases. The most popular "catch phrase" was "If you put lipstick on a pig, it is
still a pig -- no matter what shade of lipstick." Councilman Villanueva presented Councilman Maddox
with the symbolic pig as a token of appreciation.
Councilman Wood advised Councilman Reeve really led the fight on Senior Citizen Tax Relief, but did
note in a Port Folio article once that there was a segment of the population that did not pay taxes and he
said "Ducks do not pay taxes". Council Members Villanueva and Wood were unable to find a duck for
Councilman Reeve; however, did find a chicken that had been "taxed to death ".
Council Member Villanueva wished to remember the more senior member of City Council. Rumor has it
that Council Lady McClanan's "voting switches are off" and presented her with a "bike horn" to
acknowledge when Reba votes 'yes".
Council Member Wood wished to recognize the more junior member of City Council. Councilman Dyer,
representative of the Centerville District, always discusses how he is treated as a Rookie. As a symbol of
promotion, Councilman Dyer was presented with Corporal Stripes for his lapel.
Council Members Wood and Villanueva recognized the Council Members-Elect with the official City
Council T-Shirt: "It is all about Bayside".
