1st Quarter 2010/1~t Quarter 2011 calls for service

Adoption Rates
Adoption Rate goals established in 2008 at 85`%, dogs and
40 /, cats have been exceeded for the last two consecutive
calendar years.

Acquisition
• Through a Deparment of
Homeland Security Grant
organized by the Regional
Planning District Commission,
the VB Police Department will
receive a Pet Supplies Trailer to
supplement a Pet Sheltering
Disaster Plan (planning in
progress). Anticipated trailer
arrival: Fa112011
• TraIler utilization protocols and
trailer specification will be
publically accessible via City's
website once finalized
• Trailer will provide caging and
supplies for the establislunent of
a 156 caged pet shelter
New Shelter Progress/Staff
Involvement
o January 2010 -Provided projected operating costs for new shelter
o January 2010 -Participated in Technical Review Committee for
assessment and rating of the 2 PPEA proposals
o Winter/S ring 2010-Collaboration with building design team for
the new shelter
o June 2010-Participated in initial building meeting with Armada
Hoffler
a September 2010-Identified furniture, fixtures, and equipment
needed for new facility with goal of being a turn-key operation
o October 2010 -New shelter ground-breaking ceremony
o May 2010 to date -Collaborated with Public Works and Armada
I-Ioffler on the new shelter building process and shelter
components. Participation in monthly progress meetings
o May 2011 -New positions approved with new shelter
