Intern Testimonials
“My time with the City of Virginia
Beach has been a combination of
learning, challenging myself, and
contributing to the community. I've
had the opportunity to work on a
variety of projects, each unique and
significant in its own way, which
allowed me to not only apply my
academic knowledge but also to
expand my horizons. This experience
has indeed been a perfect blend of
theory and practice. One of the
highlights of my internship has been
the direct impact that our work has on
the community. It's truly rewarding to
see the tangible results of our projects
and to realize that we're making a
positive difference in people's lives.
This aspect has strengthened my
resolve to pursue a career in public
service. “
“I have really enjoyed my
internship with the City of Virginia
Beach so far. By going on site visits,
attending meetings, and working
on projects I have been able to
apply my studies to the real world.
This has given me the opportunity
to gain a lot of experience and
insights on systems analysis. (…)
My time here has allowed me to
learn a lot and has given me a
better idea about my future. I am
very grateful for what I have
gained interning for the City of
Virginia Beach and am excited to
build on it and apply it to my
studies.”
“(…) My Courses at JMU prepared me
to tackle this real-world project and
complete it in under 2 months, along
with help from my supervisor, Brian.
From writing up audit documents and
sending them to the appropriate
teams, to hard coding the changes
myself, I am beyond ecstatic to know I
was apart of something that allows
those with disabilities to effortlessly
navigate through our resources and
am grateful to have learned so much
along the way."
