COMMUNITY CHAPLAINCY PROGRAM 10.15.2024Scientia Institute for Christian Studies HAMPTON ROADS MAYORAL PRESENTATION Sayahword Ministry Alliance Chaplaincy Agenda: Who We Are Our Ask and Offerings Our Desire Q&A Who Are We? Our Motto: “Where Knowledge is Pivotal in Each Step Toward Success” Our Mission: The Philosophy of Ministry at the Scientia Institute for Christian Studies focuses on delivering sacred care through purpose, presence, and peace. Our Mission is to educate individuals on the fundamental principles and significance of pastoral care, specifically in the foundations of chaplaincy and servant leadership. This education is aimed at equipping individuals to effectively address the needs of our communities. Our Charge: More than just Academics Combatting Ignorance Providing a Ministry of Presence Friends to the Community We are here to serve as a bridge and ensure that no one is taxed as they try to come across. Our Ask & Offerings?  Our Ask: To have access and opportunity to provide community and municipal chaplain service and training to the seven cities of Hampton Roads. Creating opportunities for our graduates.  Our Ask: We are asking for a Grant of $150,000 from the interested Cities. All contributions are Tax Deductible because we are a 501c3 Nonprofit Institution. Any opportunities for access to property as a campus home and base of operations are also appreciated and welcomed. Our Offerings: 4-10 Students per Training Cycle for the year for Chaplaincy, CIT, CISM, or CPE Certification. (Per City*) Continuing education opportunities for supplemental, expansion, or CPE supervisor certifications for current chaplains. Opportunity to provide a consistent funnel of trained and certified chaplains to serve in our local municipal markets. (Law Enforcement, Prisons, Courts, Schools, Hospitals, and more). Options to grow the # of students as the program grows Our Desire Our Hope: We desire to build strong relationships with our Municipal and Community Leaders. This will foster the development of alliances and alignment with organizations and processes established in each city. Our Strategy: This initiative has great potential for bridging socio-political divides within our communities because our chaplains do not present a biased agenda. Our philosophy of culture and vision is to develop community-minded influencers with hearts and moral principles established in faith and the Golden Rule. Our Vision: Serving The Municipality Supporting current Mayoral committee initiatives where possible. Creating opportunities for chaplain roles in the municipal marketplace (Courts, Firehouses, Social Services, and the like). Bridging the gap as community chaplains by serving as a point of contact for community Crisis Intervention when sensitive issues arise. Our Vision: Serving The People Crisis Intervention: Our services are designed to reduce Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), to provide support for community peers & those in Crisis to help them heal & recover. Emotional/Psychological Support: Whether trauma, alcohol or substance abuse, self-injury & suicidal thoughts. Chaplains counsel & assist victims in getting professional help. First Responder Support: Our chaplains provide care and on-call intervention to patients and their families, respond to crisis calls, deliver death notifications, visit sick responders, and offer biblical counseling and grief ministry. This concludes our presentation. We eagerly anticipate our collaborative efforts, working together as a unified front to strengthen our communities for our youth, residents, and first responders.
