More Than 3,000,000 Person’s Surveyed Since 2015 for More Than 1,000 Communities in 49 States Purpose and Methodology What We Learned Major Findings Summary Questions Agenda Purpose To objectively assess resident satisfaction with the delivery of major City services To help determine priorities for the community To measure trends from the previous survey To compare the City’s performance with other communities regionally and nationally Methodology Survey Description o Seven-page survey; takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete o 2nd Community Survey conducted Method of Administration o By mail and online to randomly selected sample of City residents Sample Size o Goal: 1,000 completed surveys o Actual: 1,206 completed surveys (over 100 per City Council District) Margin of Error o +/- 2.8% at the 95% level of confidence Location of Survey Respondents 6 •Good representation throughout the City •Demographics of survey respondents reflects the actual population of the City What We Learned Residents Have a Very Positive Perception of the City of Virginia Beach o Over 80% Rated Virginia Beach as an Excellent or Good Place to Live and Raise Children Satisfaction with City Services Is Much Higher in Virginia Beach Than Other Communities o Virginia Beach Rates Above the U.S. Average in 41 of 50 Areas o Satisfaction with the Overall Quality of City Services Is 26% Above the U.S. Average o Satisfaction with Customer Service from City Employees Is 33% Above the U.S. Average 7 What We Learned Top Overall Priorities: o Affordable Housing o Public Safety o Stormwater Management and Flood Control o Opportunities for Residents to Participate in City Policy Development and Decision Making o Managing Growth o Condition of Major Streets o Enforcing Junk and Debris Cleanup on Private Property 8 Topic #1 Residents Have a Very Positive Perception of Virginia Beach 9 10Nearly 90% of Respondents Rated the Overall Quality of Life in Virginia Beach as Excellent or Good 75% Rated the Overall Quality of City Services as Excellent or Good;
